Project 2- Website Redesign

For our second project of User interface, we were tasked with redesigning an entire website. For this we were given groups and had to work as a team to create a fully functional website, that had new functions apart from the original. What made this one hard for me at first was the idea of working in a group. I have had a bad track record in the past with group projects, and rarely had any design group projects during my courses. Especially in a very in depth project like this, teamwork had to be on point, as well as communication between the group mates. For this project, we had to come up with the primary website we wished to redesign, a secondary that will have a function that will be taken from it, and a third site that is unlike the other 2 that can also grab some function from. My group mates and I chose to redesign the site Tumblr. For this site we wanted to add more functionality and community by adding a store function. We based it off of Amazon stores and wanted to create a way users could sell certain items they share on Tumblr for other users to buy. Taking this function seemed easy at first, however there was much thought into how to implement a store function into the already multifunctional Tumblr. We created low resolution prototypes, and received much feedback talking and critiquing with classmates. From there we were able to create a "tab" system for the shop, which user would be able to go on and go to stores from other users, and still have a separate tab for normal Tumblr.
