Infographics/Data Visualization

Data visualization is a broad term that describes any data shown in a very creative and interesting way. This is can be various different things such as bar, and pie graphs, maps, and infographics. Many businesses have used this tactic to show information more easily then traditionally explaining information. I believe this because people are more drawn to visuals. They are fun to look at for a general audience and can explain a lot using little to no words. Information is only a fraction of what data visualization is all about however. Another piece of it is looking at a business's analytics to come up with the data that will be presented. This is the traditional way, but such techniques such as infographics change these ideals.

Infographics is another way to display information. This involves three main ideas which are information, illustration, and design. It combines these by displaying the information gathered using complementary imagery and putting it all together with a nice design. This plays on how we as humans take in information much better if it has a visual to it. While data visualization is the term used for anything that displays information visually, infographics specifically deal with making a full design using whatever information needed to be displayed with images. Infographics can take a step further and display non traditional information that is abstract to the traditional statistics.
