The final step before designing the interior of the book was to assemble what would be showcased. Since this magazine would showcase re purposed technology, I needed to look at various sites where creatives were making creative pieces of art from vinyls, cassettes, and CDs. I looked for works that anyone would be able to re create, and were very interesting in terms of re purposing. They needed to stand out and to still be recognizable to their previous form so viewers could still get a sense of nostalgia. The sites features also needed guides for viewers to read or watch if they wanted to learn more.
I decided to narrow my technology to vinyls, cassettes, CDs, and film strips. I felt as though these were the most common of technology, and were easily recognized. I still wanted those who viewed these to one feel as though they wanted to buy/make it themselves, and two, to still get a sense of nostalgia by seeing something they grew up with is being reused in a new fashion. To find many of these, I had to go to individual DIY websites where single people showcased their creations and had step by step guides. Other places where I found these works were on Etsy and on YouTube. This made me realize how big the community for repurposed tech actually was. I finally had proof that if such a magazine existed, it would be able to showcase all of these creative people while also influencing them with new projects. Below is a list of links where I found most of the work showcased in my magazine.
