The French poet was born in 1899, was a very famous writer and was most notable for his form of writing. Due to being influenced by surrealism, Ponge believed that every object, no matter how big or small, had meaning and has their own personal expression. He wrote various poems about common objects, but wrote as if each object had inner life. This made the objects he wrote about more than what they seemed, giving each item a more personal and human feeling. His work Le Savon, or soap, shows his view the most out of all of his work. In this work he talked about the life of a bar of soap. Ponge gives the soap human feelings and emotions giving it more than just a bar of soap.
