After going over my 50 pieces of ephemera, I was able to narrow it down to 12 pieces I thought worked best with each other and were very visually pleasing.

These 12 were very interesting to me and I feel as though can describe me the best and all can correlate to one another. The next step of this process was to look at these pieces and find a theme within them to create a stunning college. This was especially hard for me because even though I liked each piece separate, together I could not think of an over theme. My subconscious was drawn to these for a reason however, so I knew that I could tie these together. After much thinking the idea came to me.

Many of my pieces can be tied to my generation, and can represent an era of art. From Mario to the rise of polaroids it was clear that my theme was going to Pop culture. Pop culture is such a broad term so some research would have to go into this to fully explain pop culture and the main contributors to this theme.

After creating a quick mind map I came up with 3 questions about my theme. 1. Who contributes to pop culture? 2. Is pop culture from a previous art movement? and 3. What colors have to do with the culture? These questions were to be answered with a bit more research the topic I chose.

Pop culture is purely made of the culture of the time. It has existed for a long time and can be consisted of many ideas and key figures mixed into one melting pot. As the name suggests it it the popular ideas of the culture of the time. It is nit made by a group of people pushing an art movement. It is dated to the time and is made by everyone. This is where the pop culture of today becomes so distant. Thanks to urbanization many ideas were able to come together and create this broad but amazing culture. Today's version is very colorful and full of very recognizable figures. Today's version also has some recycled ideas that were once considered 'old'. However, today many items and figures are being brought up again and getting a second wind with our culture. I think these ideas can formulate with the strong pieces I have such as Mario, the polaroid, Star Wars, and the dubble bubble, mixed with the variety of color from pieces such as the Scad, raisin brand, and many others can't showcase this idea of pop culture. By expressing the various color and key figures and brands, I can show the culture of the time.
